If you would like to work in health and social care whether it is in a care home, in a hospital or any other place looking after the elderly or people with disabilities or special education needs, then completing a Level 2 course in Health and Social Care will give you the skills and knowledge to work in the Care Industry. In order to complete the course in Health and Social Care you will need to find a placement in order to gain more experience as a Health and Social Care Worker. Other courses available at The Adult Learning Academy in Enfield, North London are: Food Safety/ Food Hygiene, Fire Marshal/Fire Warden, Personal Licence Holder (NCPLH), PTLLS, DTLLS, Teaching Assistant, Childminding, Health and Social Care, Childcare, First Aid at Work (FAW), Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), Paediatric First Aid, ESOL and Driver Instructor Training.

Twelve Week Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF)
This course is based in Enfield, North London and is ideal for any individual who wants to work in the Care Industry such as Care Workers in residential settings or supported living, Healthcare support workers in community and primary care environments, Healthcare assistants in acute health environments and Care support workers in domiciliary services. It is an intensive three month blended learning course.

Course description
This qualification will develop your knowledge and skills in a supervised role with adults in Health and Social Care settings in England. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures. You will be required to complete 9 mandatory units and 5 optional units from the new QCF framework.

Mandatory Units that you will be studying:

  1. Communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  2. Personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  3. Equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  4. Duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  5. Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  6. The role of the health and social care worker
  7. Implement person-centred approaches in health and social care
  8. Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  9. Handle information in health and social care settings

Course Duration:
12 weeks includes Blended Learning
Learners will be required to find a Work Experience Placement during the course

Assessment:

  1. Interpretation of knowledge from direct observation of practice in the workplace
  2. Written assignments
  3. Learner’s own plans and written records of all units will be either pass or refer.
  4. Witness evidence
  5. Optional task set by Course Tutor
  6. Professional discussion
  7. Reflection on own practice in real work situations
